JUNE 2018 - YELAMU (SAN FRANCISCO, CA)

H.O.L.Y. CITY

Why is that which we revere most holy often met with the most hate?

H.O.L.Y. (Hate Often Loves You) CITY is a multimedia experimental dance theater work that takes an uncomfortably intimate look at the violence against BIPOC communities in San Francisco and challenges our notions and ideals of ‘sanctuary.’ Amidst heightened reports of evictions and deportations amongst the undocumented and the unhoused, it asks the fundamental question of our time — how do we create safety for ourselves and one another in this ‘sanctuary city’?
